Create and manage
categories

Categories group similar cards so they are easier to find and provide a way to read the flow of time and records in OneCentrate.

Switch, ki.log, and Pulse categories are managed separately. Even when they share a name, changing a category in one feature does not change categories in another.

01

Distinguish categories across the three features

Basic Settings for a new Switch on Mac, showing its name and category
When you create a card, choose a category saved for the current feature.
  • Switch categories: Classify Switch modes and their run environments.
  • ki.log categories: Classify lists that you check or count.
  • Pulse categories: Classify rhythms that repeat by day and time.

ALL on each feature screen is a filter that shows every card. It is not a standard category you can assign to a card or rename.

02

Add a category

Create a Switch category
Choose a category name, description, and color, then add it.
  1. On the Switch, ki.log, or Pulse screen, select Add in the category row.
  2. Enter a category name and, if needed, a description.
  3. Choose a color that distinguishes it from other categories.
  4. After adding it, assign the category under Basic Settings for a new or existing card.

You cannot save an empty name or a name already in use within the same feature. After creating the category, return to the card settings to select it.

03

Change a name or order

Touch and hold or secondary-click a category to edit its name, description, and color. Drag a category to a new position in the row to change its display order.

The new order changes the category filters on that feature's screen. Place frequently used categories first to move between them quickly as your collection grows.

For the complete creation flows, see Create a new Switch mode, Create a ki.log list, and Create a new Pulse rhythm.

04

Review cards before deleting a category

Deleting a category does not also delete the Switch, ki.log, or Pulse cards it contains. Cards may move to a remaining or default category, so review the cards and filters afterward.

Switch and ki.log must keep at least one actual category. In Pulse, when removing the last classification, first check which default category will display the cards, then assign another category if needed.
